Summary:
The Communication Specialist will work within the Government Affairs and Public Relations Department to assist senior communications staff with graphic design, website management, social media content, layout and design work for newsletters, e-news, annual reports, brochures, and other materials for internal and external communications by the Cooperative.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree required; major or significant coursework in Communications, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Communications, or related fields is required.
Experience:
This is an entry level position.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Premiere & Illustrator) graphics design, website design and related software is helpful.
Willingness to learn photography and videography program preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of journalistic principles and practices; communication media forms and techniques; and website design & maintenance using HTML, CSS and JAVA Script is helpful.
Knowledge and handling of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
) is needed.

Must communicate clearly and accurately in written and verbal form.
Must have skills in organizing, planning, and problem solving.
Must have the ability to perform duties with differing levels of supervision.
Must have a willingness to understand and adhere to Cooperative policies and procedures.
Must be equipped to develop and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, co-op members, vendors, and the public.
Must be able to assist in the development of plans and programs within assigned area of responsibility.
Must be able to identify and utilize measurable performance criteria.
May operate a company vehicle as assigned and must maintain a valid driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position is located and reports daily to the headquarters office during normal work hours.
Occasionally requires extended and/or irregular hours of work to accommodate Cooperative needs or emergency situations.
This would be particularly true during summer festival season or weather events causing significant power outages.
Occasional travel is required when representing the Cooperative at various functions, seminars, and training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work activities may be performed from standing or seated positions depending on the task.
At times, position may require frequent standing, walking, stooping, climbing, reaching, and grasping.
Physical dexterity and coordination are required for the operation of personal computers, calculators, telephones, radio communication equipment, photocopy machines, etc.
Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.
Occasionally, some duties may be performed outside with exposure to weather extremes.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
